    Within the framework of the Resilient and Sustainable Enterprises in Tourism (RESET) project, the Business Day Dialogue explored the pressing challenges to MSME resilience in South Africa’s tourism sector, and the role that business member organizations and public sector can play in promoting resilience.

  4. Sectoral Advisory Bodies 2021

    The Sectoral Advisory Bodies (SABs), composed of tripartite constituents engaged in economic sectors, were established at the 298th Session of the ILO Governing Body (March 2007) to review sectoral developments and to make recommendations to the ILO's constituents on priorities for sectoral work. Sessions of the SABs are held every two years, and they are chaired by a representative of the Government group of the Governing Body. Following the session held in January 2021 the SABs are to make recommendations on sectoral meetings to be held in the biennium 2022–23 and on preparatory work for sectoral meetings in future biennia. These recommendations will be submitted to the Governing Body at its 341st session in March 2021.

    During this side-event to the LDC IV conference in Istanbul, ILO and other member agencies of the UN Cluster on Trade and Productive Capacity will present a joint concept note outlining their view on the importance of trade and productive capacity for LDCs. They will also sign a framework document for a new multi-agency trade support project for LDCs financed by Switzerland.

    With the objective of engaging in an efficient manner towards a new decade of international support for sustainable tourism development for Least Developed Countries (2011-2020), the UN Steering Committee on Tourism for Development is organizing a Joint Tourism Special Event at LDC-IV Conference to share strategic insights on major challenges and devise the way forward for tourism in LDCs.
