Financial education supports migrants and entrepreneurs in Nigeria

With close to 20 years of coaching entrepreneurs under her belt Omokorede Fasoro is a shining light in Nigeria’s efforts to support migrants and returnees by helping them to improve their money management skills, build sustainable businesses and improve employment prospects through financial education. She is an ILO financial education trainer who is very passionate about the topic. In this article, we share her innovative outreach strategies using digital technology to promote financial literacy.

Financial Education - Nigeria - Trainee's guide - "Manage your money smartly"

This Trainee’s guide on financial education targets primarily (potential) migrants and returnees in Nigeria who wish to improve their money management. The Trainee’s guide introduces basic knowledge, skills and tools related to earning, spending, budgeting and using financial services such as savings, credit, money transfers and insurance. This guide was produced under the GIZ funded Initiative for Labour Migration Employment and Reintegration (LMER) in Nigeria and Ghana.

To accelerate progress on the elimination of Child Labour in the cocoa and ASGM supply chains in Nigeria, the ILO seeks to engage the services of a Social Dialogue expert to provide technical support in the implementation of the Social Dialogue’s component of the ACCEL Africa project. The expert will contribute to the achievement of the project’s Output 1.6: Social dialogue among workers, employers’ organizations and the government.
