Impact of pandemic requires massive state intervention in North Macedonia: ILO and EBRD advise government on labour market after coronavirus

The ILO Office for Central and Eastern Europe and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) established a joint task force to assess the impact of the coronavirus crisis on the region’s economies. The EBRD/ILO Task Force was invited by the Economic and Social Council in North Macedonia to support the development of policy responses when the public health threat developed into a global pandemic with economic consequences.

This programme document is a result of the strategic planning of ILO cooperation activities in North Macedonia for the period 2019–2022. It has been prepared in consultation with the Government and the social partners with the aim of creating employment, extending social protection, guaranteeing rights at work, and promoting social dialogue — all key components of economic and social policies.
