Social Finance Brief: Insurance for MSMEs in Mexico

The ILO’s Impact Insurance Facility has been collaborating with the Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions to build inclusive insurance markets for excluded persons and for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the country. This brief identifies strategies to overcome barriers to insurance for MSMEs, based on the experiences of seven companies in Latin America.

Digital wages for decent work in Mexico: findings and opportunities
On May 11, 2022, 24 representatives of government institutions, workers' and employers' organizations, financial service and digital payments providers analysed the findings of a rapid assessment of digital wages for decent work in Mexico, in the food and beverage, coffee and retail trade sectors. The meeting was hosted by ILO’s Global Centre on Digital Wages for Decent Work and the ILO Country Office for Mexico and Cuba.

A government agricultural insurance scheme was developed to offer protection for farmers. However, small-scale farmers struggled to access the scheme.
