  5. Visit of Tanzanian delegation of ministries and insurance industry officials to Uganda

    From 31 January to 4 February, Social Finance facilitated a “study tour” of Tanzanian delegates to Uganda. The study tour helped participants learn from interactions with Ugandan ministries, the central bank, the regulatory authority and different insurance companies.

  6. Technical meeting on the future of work in aquaculture in the context of the rural economy

    The meeting will discuss issues relating to the future of work and the promotion of decent work in the aquaculture sector, with the aim of adopting conclusions, including recommendations for future action.

  7. Inception Workshop: Baseline Study and Sectoral Assessment of Working Conditions in the Rural Sectors

    The ILO’s Project on Improving Workers' Rights in the Rural Sectors of the Indo-Pacific with a focus on Women initiated the conduct of the baseline survey and sectoral assessment on working conditions in the rural sectors in Indonesia and the Philippines, from November 2021 to June 2022.

  8. Workshop: Agricultural and climate risk insurance in Indonesia

    On 24 November, Social Finance facilitated a workshop on agricultural and climate risk insurance in Indonesia, organized as part of our partnership with IFAD's Insurance for Rural Resilience and Economic Development Programme (INSURED) and in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of National Development and Planning (Bappenas). The workshop shared lessons learned on both the demand and supply side, success factors and opportunities for improvement for climate and agricultural risk management in the country. It included insights from the Ministry of Agriculture and Bappenas and key findings and recommendations from the INSURED activities.

  9. Review of the Voluntary Code of Good Practices on decent work in the banana industry

    Government, workers and employers from the banana industry in the Davao region had a dialogue to review and update the Voluntary Code of Good Practices (VCGP) to promote decent work amid the COVID-19 pandemic and changing demand of the global market.

  10. Workshop: Agricultural and climate risk insurance in Uganda

    On 27 July, Social Finance facilitated a workshop on agricultural and climate risk insurance in Uganda, organized as part of our partnership with IFAD's Insurance for Rural Resilience and Economic Development Programme (INSURED) and in collaboration with the Agro Consortium (AIC). The workshop shared lessons learned on the demand and supply side, success factors and opportunities for improvement for climate and agricultural risk management in the country. The discussions focused on awareness raising, education, delivery modalities and the role of technology in creating value for smallholder farmers, and the financial and non-financial institutions working with them.
