  1. Approach to Inclusive Market Systems (AIMS) improves income of refugees and host communities in Uganda

    The ILO under the PROSPECTS initiative launched the Sesame and Cassava Value Chain Development Project in association with a private sector partner Ag-Plutos to stimulate decent work prospects for refugees and host community members.

  2. EU and UN agencies join forces to address root causes of child labour

    A new EU-funded action will tackle the root causes of child labour in supply chains, focusing primarily on coffee and leveraging existing efforts on cobalt. Under the leadership of the ILO, the project will be jointly implemented with FAO and UNICEF, in collaboration with the International Trade Centre (ITC).

    The project supports an inclusive and sustainable future of work in three supply chains of importance to the European Union to achieve full and productive employment and decent work.

  4. ILO calls for strengthened partnerships to promote decent work for youth in rural Africa

    The ILO and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) gathered Governments’, workers’ and employers representatives from Africa and key stakeholders to discuss how integrated agribusiness hubs can support decent jobs for young people in the region.

  6. The ILO is undertaking a training of facilitators workshop on Think.Coop adaptation for Refugees and Host Communities in Sudan

    The three day workshop is taking place in Khartoum on 21-23 April in partnership with Hope and Friendship for Development Organization (HOPE).

  7. Gender Awareness Workshop for Ministry of Agriculture and the directorates under EIIP Project Phase VI

    The EIIP project funded by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the German Development Bank (KfW) was launched in Jordan in 2016 in response to the Syrian crisis and to provide support to the Jordanian Government in facing the challenges related to the influx of refugees. It focuses on increasing short term employment through improving infrastructure and the environment, and to providing youth with skills that will assist them in securing longer-term job opportunities.

  8. Green Works Based on Labour-Intensive Local Technologies in Burkina Faso

    Using the green works approach, this project aims to demonstrate, document, and analyse traditional soil restoration techniques and to gather the data necessary for policies and programmes at a larger and more systematic scale.

  9. Training of trainers workshop on cooperative development tools in the DRC

    A training of trainers on ILO cooperative development tools was held in the Democratic Republic of Congo from 12 to 23 December 2022.

  10. Towards SDG Target 8.7: prevention and elimination of child labour in Burkina Faso’s cotton production sector.

    Child labour is present in the garment, textile and cotton supply chain in multiple countries around the world. It is found particularly in Africa and Asia where cotton production systems are labour intensive and/or are dominated by small-holder farms.
