  1. Youths across Jordan gain new skills through work-based learning

    Hundreds of Jordanian and Syrian youths celebrated the completion of their training programmes, provided by the ILO and Jordan River Foundation, as they prepare to enter the world of work with increased practical and technical skills.

  2. Agreement paves way for Municipal Community Infrastructure projects in middle and northern Jordan

    The ILO signs a new implementation agreement with Jordan’s Ministry of Local Administration to implement Municipal Community Infrastructure projects in 15 municipalities to create sustainable infrastructure and decent paid employment using employment intensive investment program approach in the sixth phase of the EIIP program Jordan funded by the German government (BMZ) through the German Development Bank (KfW).

    New partnership to promote decent work across food systems

    The new alliance between ILO, IFAD and CARE will promote decent work and productive employment, with the aim of tackling poverty and inequality in the sector while also promoting sustainable business.

  4. EU and ILO reaffirm commitment to decent work for Lao workers at home and abroad

    The European Union (EU), the Minister of Labour and Social Welfare (MoLSW), and the International Labour Organization conduct field visit to projects advancing decent work for Lao workers, including women and men migrant workers.

    The ILO “Occupational Safety and Health Guide in Agriculture” is set to increase OSH efficiency and boost the provision of safe workplaces to guarantee the workers’ health and the sector’s productivity

  6. Signing of Implementation Agreement between the ILO-EIIP-KfW Project and the Ministry of Agriculture in Jordan

    ILO in Jordan signs a new Implementation agreement with Ministry of Agriculture in Jordan for the afforestation of 1,750 dunums (175 Ha) in 4 Governorates namely Irbid, Jerash, Ajloun an Al Balqa.

  7. Gender Awareness Workshop for Ministry of Agriculture and the directorates under EIIP Project Phase VI

    The EIIP project funded by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the German Development Bank (KfW) was launched in Jordan in 2016 in response to the Syrian crisis and to provide support to the Jordanian Government in facing the challenges related to the influx of refugees. It focuses on increasing short term employment through improving infrastructure and the environment, and to providing youth with skills that will assist them in securing longer-term job opportunities.

  8. Employers’ and workers’ organizations of the palm oil sector join forces to promote bipartite cooperation through social dialogues

    The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) and the Indonesian Trade Union Network for Palm Oil (JAPBUSI) sign a Joint Declaration to address decent work deficits in the sector, promote labour compliance and enhance the image of Indonesia’s palm oil industry for sustainability.

    Rural employment would increase significantly if investments are made in policies that harness nature, while ensuring human well-being.

  10. New command-and-control and operation centre launches in Jordan’s Labour Ministry

    In line with the e-government vision, a new system supported by the ILO will help the Ministry boost efficiency and ease its operations during labour inspections. This is an important step in the quest to ensure decent work for all.
