  1. Knowledge-sharing seminar on ILO Convention 102 brings together tripartite partners

    The ILO and ITC-ILO convened yesterday, 6 December, a hybrid knowledge-sharing seminar on the Social Security (Minimum Standards) Convention, 1952 (No. 102). Aimed at tripartite partners, the seminar delved into the convention, including its guiding principles, ratification process and practical application.

  2. Reaching young men through HIV self-testing at the workplace in Mozambique

    In Mozambique, the ILO worked with the Ministry of Health, the HIV Business Coalition (ECoSIDA), the Population Services International (PSI), employers’ and workers’ organizations under the Unitaid - supported STAR Phase three project. The project showed HIV self-testing at workplace is a good way to reaching young men and reducing HIV testing gap amongst men.

  4. ILO and Portugal sign cooperation agreement on Social Protection

    On Tuesday 14 June in the framework of a High-Level Conference organized by the ILO Office in Lisbon and the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security of Portugal, the International Labour Organization has signed a cooperation agreement with the Strategic and Planning Office of the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security of Portugal to implement the Phase 3 of the ACTION/Portugal project on “Strengthening of Social Protection Systems in the PALOP and Timor-Leste".

  6. Advocacy on social protection targets Mozambican Parliamentarians

    Between 18 and 19 April, around 45 parliamentarians from the Republic of Mozambique took part in an advocacy activity conducted by the Civil Society Platform on Social Protection with support from the European Union and the ILO. This activity had the goal of sensitizing legislators about key governmental interventions around social protection, particularly on the basic social security programmes administered by the National Institute of Social Action (INAS).

    ILO Senior Labour Migration Specialist, Gloria Moreno-Fontes, speaks from Pretoria about the Southern Africa Migration Management (SAMM) Project, which aims to improve migration management in the Southern Africa and Indian Ocean region. The project is funded by the European Commission and implemented by the ILO in collaboration with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

  9. AU, ILO and UNICEF mark the World Day against Child Labour in Africa

    The African Union, ILO and UNICEF organized a virtual Continental event to mark the World Day against Child Labour. The event brought together key actors, to discuss strategies to address child labour, taking a holistic and systemic approach based on the 2020 Global Estimates on Child Labour and related recommendations, which had been launched by the ILO and UNICEF on 10 June.

  10. High Level Meeting on Employment in Mozambique

    With the support of the International Labour Organization (ILO) through its Swedish funded project "MozTrabalha, the Secretariat for Youth and Employment (SEJE) held a High Level Meeting on Employment in Mozambique at the Joaquim Chissano International Conference Centre in the city of Maputo, where the Promotion of Economic Growth, Productivity and Employment Generation was the topic under discussion.
