  1. ILO calls for strengthened partnerships to promote decent work for youth in rural Africa

    The ILO and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) gathered Governments’, workers’ and employers representatives from Africa and key stakeholders to discuss how integrated agribusiness hubs can support decent jobs for young people in the region.

  2. AU, ILO and UNICEF mark the World Day against Child Labour in Africa

    The African Union, ILO and UNICEF organized a virtual Continental event to mark the World Day against Child Labour. The event brought together key actors, to discuss strategies to address child labour, taking a holistic and systemic approach based on the 2020 Global Estimates on Child Labour and related recommendations, which had been launched by the ILO and UNICEF on 10 June.

  3. New partnership between the Government of Norway and the International Labour Organization to improve working conditions in Malawi’s tobacco sector

    This new project is well aligned to the strategic priorities of development cooperation between Norway and Malawi, which include a focus on the agriculture sector and respect for human rights, as well as with Norway’s global development cooperation priorities regarding the elimination of modern slavery and child labour.

  4. How skills development is changing lives in Eastern and Southern Africa

    In Malawi, Mozambique and Tanzania there is a new initiative to give young men and women practical skills to increase their employability, find decent work and improve their productivity. The approach is showing results in part because it is flexible, meeting the unique challenges facing each country.

  5. Malawi National Conference on Child Labour in Agriculture - Outcome document

    The Malawi National Conference on Child Labour in Agriculture took place on 4-6 September 2012, was supported by the Government of Malawi, the ECLT Foundation and the ILO.

  6. Desk review of research on HIV/AIDS in the world of work

    This desk review was conducted by ILO/AIDS as part of the Inter-Agency Task Team on HIV workplace policies/programmes and private sector engagement (IATT/WPPS). It is based primarily on the research documents shared by the IATT members, covering vulnerability studies, stigma and discrimination studies, impact and cost-benefit studies.
