    The International Symposium brings together policymakers, social partners, civil society, and development partners to discuss the innovative practices and strategies for building sustainable and rights-based social protection systems resulting from the Social Protection & Public Finance Management Programme.

  7. Capacity building & planning meeting with representatives of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) & Common Market for East and Central Africa

    The JLMP-ACTION programme hosted a 4-day training for 21 representatives from the regional economic communities of ECCAs and COMESA, to strengthen capacity on improving access to social protection and skills recognition for migrant workers and their families in East and Central Africa.

    The Government of Pakistan, employers’ and workers’ organizations launched the next generation of the Decent Work Country Programme for Pakistan during a historic signing ceremony held at the International Labour Organization’s Country Office in Islamabad on 4 May 2023.

  10. What role can international labour standards and the ILO play in the protection of migrant workers’ wages?

    The ILO Committee of Experts on the Application of Conventions and Recommendations (CEACR) has identified non-payment of wages, delayed payment of as key modern-day wage protection issues that can also lead to debt bondage and forced labour, with migrant workers being especially vulnerable. This event presents a new ILO guidance note on the protection of wages for migrant workers.
