  1. Subregional tripartite workshop on promoting decent work in the forest sector, with a focus on reforestation

    The ILO organized a Subregional tripartite workshop on promoting decent work in the forest sector, with a focus on reforestation, in Arusha, Tanzania, from 7 to 9 March 2023. The workshop concluded with the agreement on building blocks for advancing decent and sustainable work in the forest sector in the sub-region.

  2. Sectoral Advisory Bodies 2023

    At its session in January 2023, the SABs are requested to make recommendations on global sectoral meetings to be held in the biennium 2024–25, and on preparatory work for sectoral meetings in future biennia.

  4. Faces of Women Workers in Palm Oil and Fishing Sectors

    Women play important roles across the supply chain in the rural sectors of agriculture, fishing and mining. They are often involved in multiple activities simultaneously while taking responsibility for the well-being of the members of their families, including food provision and care for children and the elderly.

  5. Sectoral Advisory Bodies 2021

    The Sectoral Advisory Bodies (SABs), composed of tripartite constituents engaged in economic sectors, were established at the 298th Session of the ILO Governing Body (March 2007) to review sectoral developments and to make recommendations to the ILO's constituents on priorities for sectoral work. Sessions of the SABs are held every two years, and they are chaired by a representative of the Government group of the Governing Body. Following the session held in January 2021 the SABs are to make recommendations on sectoral meetings to be held in the biennium 2022–23 and on preparatory work for sectoral meetings in future biennia. These recommendations will be submitted to the Governing Body at its 341st session in March 2021.

  6. Sectoral Meeting on Promoting Decent Work and Safety and Health in Forestry

  7. Training course on child labour in agriculture: “Harvesting a future without child labour: Eliminating harmful practices in agriculture”

    This one-week course takes a broad view on child labour in agriculture with an emphasis on the policy options to eliminate this practice and promote safer and more sustainable production processes. Participants will have gained knowledge on child labour in agriculture, including fisheries and aquaculture, forestry and livestock rearing, and on the strategies for mainstreaming child labour issues into rural development programs, policies and activities. The course will also address occupational safety and health (OSH) issues specific to child labour in agriculture and participants will learn how to carry out and implement an OSH risk assessment.   8. Side event on child labour in agriculture at the IUF 26th World Congress

    The IUF and the International Partnership for Cooperation on Child Labour in Agriculture organized a special side event on child labour and agriculture and the role of trade unions in eliminating this global ill.
