Conference and Study tour: Strengthening Social and Solidarity Economy in Asia

The ILO will organize a conference and study tour as part of the strengthening the social and solidarity economy in Asia – phase 2 project on 14-15 May 2024.

This conference will showcase findings from the project on strengthening the social and solidarity economy in Asia – phase 2. It will convene policymakers, representatives of employers’ and workers’ organizations, international organizations, social and solidarity economy networks, and practitioners to discuss ways to strengthen the social and solidarity economy’s contribution to decent work and the Sustainable Development Goals in Asia and the Pacific.

It will:
  • Showcase findings from mapping studies on the social and solidarity economy in five countries (Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Thailand, and Vietnam) and policy implications;
  • Shed light on the social and solidarity economy’s contribution to youth empowerment, gender equality, just transition, formalization of the informal economy and crisis response;
  • Provide a platform for policymakers, organizations, supporting institutions, and practitioners to share knowledge, know-how and good practices.
On Day 2, 15 May 2024, participants will attend a study tour to learn from good practices and exchange with practitioners in the field.
